A – for once – lovely French restaurant with a small menu and delicious dishes: Restaurant Huître Brûlée (1. June 2026)
Currently, it’s not easy to access the Huître Brûlée since the street access is only possible from one side since they are rebuilding a house and, hence, have blocked a few streets. That being said, it’s worth the little detour. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the place is nice and has a little patio where the majority of the tables are located. Quickly after you’re seated, you’re brought menus and get a small amuse bouche in the form of “courgettes, orange fraiche, peas”, which is light and enjoyable.

I decided to go for the “local beef tartare, haddock, peas” (EUR 15.00), which was absolutely delicious. I’ve only discovered the combination of meat with peas recently, but it’s a more than enjoyable combination, so, I can definitely recommend it to anyone who sees that combination on a menu.

As a main, I decided to go for the “cuttlefish, pointed cabbage, foie gras cream” (EUR 29.00), which was interesting in terms of texture (not really something you will get every day), and it’s definitely something you need to like to enjoy. However, I personally enjoyed the texture and, hence, found the combination of flavors with the texture not only interesting, but enjoyable.

What was less of a positive surprise was the “fromage du moment” (EUR 5.00) as it was rather boring, respectively, not really exciting.

All in all, I can absolutely recommend the Huître Brûlée since it has a lovely little patio in the back, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent – and all of it for a fair price. Given the place isn’t huge, I would highly recommend you to book your table in advance.
