An absolutely delicious self-service option for tasty ramen: A very efficient and delicious option for lunch ramen: Restaurant Happy Ramen (17. June 2026)
I had walked by the Happy Ramen a few times and always felt like this could be a nice place to try out for lunch. Finally, it was the time and I went with the “edamame” (CHF 8.00) as a starter. Now, given you have to order yourself like in a McDonald’s at some huge TV, there is one thing, which doesn’t satisfy a mind, which prefers a “starter – main course” combination as the edamame (as a starter) is served at the same time as the main course (the ramen). The edamame were fine, but the CHF 8.00 for that is steep.
As a main, I went for the “tantanmen ramen” (CHF 22.00) with “Extra Noodles” (+ CHF 2.50). I had ordered without pak choi, but somehow this wasn’t really executed properly. Luckily, they were all rather small, so, that still remained enjoyable. That being said, the broth was absolutely exquisite! Truly loved it! And not only that, the meat was good, and the noodles were delicious too – so, good that I had intuitively ordered an extra portion of noodles!
All in all, the Happy Ramen offers you great ramen for fair prices (especially for Zurich!), but you do 90% of the job yourself, which is good, because it’s efficient, but it’s also a little bit annoying if you want a ‘sit down lunch experience’. In any case, now that I’m fully aware of that, I will definitely make sure to come here again and get the ramen again!
