Quite a delicious experience – if you’re patient: Restaurant Fiskastykkið (19. June 2026)
There is one lesson you should learn quite early when you’re trying to dine out on the Faroe Islands – book your tables early as there aren’t too many restaurants and there aren’t too many tables either, hence, booking your table well in advance is a good idea if you don’t want to spend your time waiting for a table. That being said, we were organized and, hence, had a table ready when we arrived (on time). Given it was a long day of travelling before to get to the Faroe Islands (via Copenhagen with a 3 hours layover), I felt like having two different dishes starting with the “okkara fiskasuppa (bacalao, leek, herbs, croutons)” (195 DKK), which was – overall – fine. The soup itself was thick and full of flavor, however, you couldn’t taste much of the fish really, hence, it was more a seafood soup with small pieces of fish, and those were hard to taste.

As a second course, I went for the “raekjur (salad, lobster roll, couscous, bell pepper, apples, tomatoes, shrimps, tomato dressing, herbs)” (195 DKK), which looked tiny, but actually turned out to be quite a big portion – and, for that matter, a delicious one. The shrimps were actually exquisite in terms of taste, and they went super well with the salad leaves and the tomatoes, so, definitely something I can recommend you to try.

The “bread & butter” wasn’t too bad either. The spread was nice, and you would easily enjoy your bread – which was a little dry, though.

The place itself is simple, hence, appealing, however, the staff is kind of slow. I mean, they are super friendly and when you ask for something, you get it, but frankly, I was a bit surprised by how long it actually takes them to prepare an “espresso” (40 DKK), which wasn’t even specifically good.

What I find rather funny was the fact that they had “fish” as part of their lamps – I mean, that is definitely something rather unique.

So, all in all, the Fiskastykkið is a restaurant I can recommend you to try when you’re on the Faroe Islands – just make sure to book early enough, so, you end up having a table. And be ready to be patient.
