A new place in an old restaurant – and definitely worth visiting: Restaurant Huberta (24. June 2026)

The Huberta used to be some shady Greek restaurant which never had any visitors, hence, I had completely missed that they opened newly – and I’m glad they did. They are having a small patio in the backyard for 8 to 10 tables, which was absolutely packed that evening, which surprised me as from the outside you wouldn’t expect the place to be almost full, however, it was. There are two waitresses, which are super friendly, but they are not enough (in terms of number of people), to make sure that everyone gets his or her stuff within the respective time, since the ways are long. However, once you have been able to place your order, the kitchen seems to be relatively efficient.

I went for the “cold beet root butter milk soup with cucumber, egg, and dill” (CHF 14.00), which looked like a very simple dish, and it was, but it was also absolutely tasty and refreshing (which was great, since it was about 30 degrees even in the evening).

Given it was too hot for something warm, I decided to go for the “spicy Huberta beef tartar, herb salad and sweet-and-sour pickles, bread, and lemon butter” (CHF 39.00) and an additional “bone marrow” (CHF 12.00). The tartar was rich in flavor and definitely enjoyable since it was hand-cut and a bit chunky, but not only that, the seasoning was also good and the lemon butter worked surprisingly well with the tartar. The bone marrow on the other hand was not as great as others – it wasn’t bad, but it was too thin and I would have wished for a thicker bone so you would have a little more bone marrow. That being said, I would suggest them to bring a small spoon when serving the bone marrow as it would make it much easier to eat it.

All in all, the Huberta is a lovely find – it’s somewhat simple yet appealing. The backyard patio is lovely, the staff is superbly friendly and the food is actually very enjoyable – and has fair prices. If you want to sit outside, I would highly recommend you to book your table in advance.
