When you ate too much on the way to the long-haul flight and feel overwhelmed with the food: SWISS First flight LX180 ZRH – BKK (26. June 2026)

Given I wanted to take advantage of the relatively cheap SWISS First flight through a complicated routing, I spent the day travelling to finally get to LX180. And that involved a bit of First Class lounging and more food, so, by the time I was on the plane, I didn’t really feel that hungry anymore. But, given I don’t fly First Class every day, I figured I wanted to still get a bit of something and went for the “artisanal bread from Bertschi bakery”, which was as good as on the ground (weird reference, but still true).

Then it was time for a few different smaller bites in the form of “duck liver parfait (crafted from ethically sourced liver) with quince gel, marinated shimeji and shiitake mushrooms, edamame beans, and dried pear purée”, “sausasges” and “artichokes alla Siciliana with lemon and cream cheese mousse, fried capres and Amalfi lemon cremolate”, which were all quite tasty.

Then, it was of course time for the “filet of Balik salmon”, which came with blini, horseradish and a small side salad. To me, the Balik salmon doesn’t quite pair with the caviar in Lufthansa First, but it is definitely an enjoyable bite.

Then it was time for a “sorbet” to cleanse the palate, which was a lovely idea, but frankly, the sorbet was so deep frozen that I had to wait for approximately 10 minutes before I could even try to eat it, which I get, but this was still a bit of a let down.

Then, I went for the “beef filet”, which I had preordered, and I must say that it was surprisingly good. The quality of the meat was great and the cooking temperature was perfect too, so, you can definitely dine in still in the skies.

What I would like to highlight here is not only the overall experience, but also the fact that the head steward did an outstanding job – he was superbly friendly, attentive, and always around, so, definitely someone who made you feel special while on board!
