An unexpectedly tasty meat experience: Restaurant El Quincho del Tio Querido (27. January 2016)
The “Morcillas” (25 ARS) as a starter are probably the best idea ever if you like blood sausages. They are extremely aromatic, savoury, tasty, just very yummy!
I decided to give Argentinian meat yeat another try and went for the “Baby Beef Grille” (395 ARS) which was the upper part in the picture. And I must admit that the meat was incredibly savoury and tender. It obviously wasn’t as tender as the fillet but it was juicy and had a great flavour! In addition to that the piece of meat is tremendous! You would actually need no starter!
The “mandioca frita” (45 ARS) which I chose as a side dish were a bit disappointing though. I mean, they are fine in taste but they were a bit too dry. And given that there is no sauce or anything provided, it is a bit of a stretch – at least for me – to eat them when this dry.
The place itself was recommended to me by the remise (aka taxi) driver which took us to the Brazilian side of the Iguazú Falls and it was a good recommendation. The place is actually rather huge but the meat is very lovely and the service is friendly and jovial.
Even from the outside, the restaurant already looks promising as you can see the guys preparing meat on the grill. The way it should be – very lovely!
Overall, the dishes are good, the prices are fair (also true for beverages, i.e. Cafe Doble, 35 ARS; Agua Mineral, 0,5L, 25 ARS), the service is good, and the atmosphere is okay. You should mostly come here for the meat though!
