I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

A decent business lunch in a cloudy atmosphere: Restaurant Altenbach (29. October 2024)
It’s really not often that I’m in Liechtenstein, but given I had a client lunch, I was spending a lunch in Vaduz. As a starter, I went for the “soup of the day” (CHF 8.00), which was decent. A bit small as a starter, but fine. As a main, I picked the “pork Cordon Bleu […]

False pretenses and a verbally intrusive waiter: Restaurant Les Deux (26. October 2024)
Incomplete information is the best description of what happened when I had called to book. The Les Deux has various ‘levels’ of their restaurant. I had called to get to the 1 Michelin Star restaurant, however, that wasn’t really what had happened since they placed us in the restaurant on the ground floor, which is […]

A lovely wine bar with a Bavarian twist: Restaurant Weinbar Griabig (26. October 2024)
The Weinbar Griabig is not a place I probably would have walked into, since it looks rather tiny and crowded from the outside. But, once you’re inside, you are welcomed by a warm and lovely atmosphere, which is rather traditional since it’s mainly held in wood. I went for the “pork roast salad (with croutons, […]

Children-friendly, swift, and tasty: Restaurant Edomae (25. October 2024)
While I had only discovered the Edomae this year, I figured this place was worth visiting on a more regular basis, so I gave it another try for lunch. As a starter, I went for the “edo gyoza with pork (5 pieces)” (CHF 12.50), which were quite lovely. However, somehow I find CHF 2.50 per […]

A tasty return after a few years: Restaurant Metropol (24. October 2024)
It’s been a while since I’ve last been to the Metropol, but I thought as an alternative for lunch, this would be good to try out again, and I went for the “carrot ginger soup” (CHF 15.00) as a starter and, admittedly, it was not only tasty, but it was a proper portion, so you […]

A favourite of mine in central Zurich with great dishes: Restaurant The Old Inn (23. October 2024)
To me, The Old Inn remains a favourite since they really offer great dishes, even if they are vegetarian and all of that for a very decent price. We started with “popcorn chicken (basil, secret sauce)” (CHF 18.00), which was delicious. Sure, it’s rather unhealthy being fried to death, but with the dip, it turns […]

Delicious dishes, but too expensive for a lunch meal: Restaurant Aurora (23. October 2024)
The Aurora remains a good choice in terms of quality of food, but given their location, the prices are a bit nuts. I mean, if you end up paying about 70+ CHF per person for a lunch, then this is definitely a bit beyond the acceptable. The “pumpkin soup” (CHF 12.00) was great in terms […]

A safe bet for a swift Italian business lunch: Restaurant Antica Roma (22. October 2024)
The Antica Roma is a safe bet for dinner as well as for lunch, since they offer good food for incredibly fair prices, and the service and the kitchen are swift. I went for the “broccoli soup with croutons”, which was simple, but enjoyable. I thought, I’d take a proper starter, which turned out to […]
