I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

Great view of the sunset in the middle of the national park: Observatory Bar @ Arenal Observatory Lodge (17. April 2017)

When you intend to visit the El Arenal National Park, I can recommend you two things: a) stay at the Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa (which is the only one located right in the national park) and b) bring good shoes. It is definitely worth staying here as there is a beautiful trail area where […]

More than just good – when translation goes wrong: Restaurant Just Good @ Tifakara Lodge (17. April 2017)

When you are on your way to the ‘La Fortuna waterfall’ – which is in the middle of nowhere – you might be hungry at some point. And as the walk down to the waterfall is quite intense (well, especially the ‘up’-part is), it makes sense to strengthen yourself before the walk. By accident, I […]

Rather disappointing breakfast: Restaurant Backyard @ aloft San José Hotel (17. April 2017)

The breakfast selection at the Restaurant Backyard in the aloft San José is decent – you get everything you need starting with a selection of cereals (rather limited), cold cuts, cheese (doesn’t look too appealing) … … various fresh fruits … … and some warm dishes like sausages, eggs, and pico de gallo. The place […]

A restaurant with a concept and mediocre food: Restaurant Johnny Rockets (16. April 2017)

Frankly, Johnny Rockets is not a place I would usually pay a visit but after getting up at 3 a.m., 5 hours of flying, 2 hours of waiting for Sixt to be able to provide the rental car and finally arriving at the hotel 10 hours after getting up, Johnny Rockets around the corner seemed […]

Real Mexican Mariachi experience: Restaurant El Salón Tenampa (14. April 2017)

Given I had failed so far to see Mariachis live, it was about time to fill this gap. So, when you’re in Mexico City, you should definitely go to the Plaza Garibaldi where all the Mariachis are and order a mariachi song for you. Or, you enter one of the many establishments around the square […]

Good bar to have a drink after Chapultepec: King Cole Bar @ The St. Regis Mexico City (14. April 2017)

When you visit Mexico City, you have to talk a walk through Chapultepec – a huge park in the center of the city! And if you are there during a holiday or a weekend, it’s absolutely packed! It is really kind of incredible how big the park is – and it is actually quite beautiful, […]

How the locals spend Easter – with delicious Mexican food: Restaurant Cabaña Juárez (14. April 2017)

As a tourist you would probably never end up here – but you should. If you drive basically through the whole city and exit around Santa Fe and keep going towards Toluca, you will at some point encounter an area where along the highway there is one little house besides the next and all of […]

How to get your tummy full, Mexican style: Cantina El Amanecer Tapatio (13. April 2017)

A Mexican cantina is a really interesting experience – something I have never tried before despite having been already three times to Mexico before. Now, the concept is rather simple – it is a huge room, like a canteen, you get a table (but you should book in advance if you’re a larger group), and […]
