I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.
Absolutely outstanding service with one of the friendliest waiters in a long while: Restaurant Mövenpick Wein-Bar (6. July 2024)
It was actually not easy to find a restaurant, which was open on the day that Switzerland was playing in the European championship. But, ultimately we ended up being lucky and finding a place – and it came with the upside that the place was basically empty because somehow everyone was watching the game. We […]
Great burger, but rather insane prices: Restaurant Aurora (4. July 2024)
It’s a few years ago since I’ve last been to the Aurora – and while I had good memories of it in terms of quality of the food, I did not recall how expensive it was. Frankly, the dish I’ve picked was actually the cheapest one on the whole menu, and everything else was easily […]
Overall a great experience, but missing that authentic Mexican spiciness: Restaurant El Alebrije (3. July 2024)
It’s years ago since I’ve been at the El Alebrije, which has moved location since. In the old place, you would get relatively traditional Mexican food (well, still with a Swiss twist, but close enough to real Mexican food) and the new place, since under the same management, aspires for the same. The difference is […]
Overall, a good option for lunch, but rather on the expensive side of things: Restaurant Carlton (3. July 2024)
The Carlton remains a good choice for lunch since you always get nice dishes, but then again, just for a lunch, it’s rather on the expensive side. Today, the starter consisted of “cucumber salad, coriander, sesame and chilli” and was actually reasonably enjoyable. The portion was a bit small, but other than that good. As […]
A good, but rather pricey hotel breakfast: Restaurant Amelys @ Le Royal Hotel Luxembourg (2. July 2024)
It’s a good five years ago since I’ve last been to the Amelys and this time it wasn’t for a regular meal during the day but for breakfast since I had stayed at the Le Royal. With EUR 33.00, the breakfast price is on the rather expensive side of things. To be fair, though, the […]
Not sure why this place has such a good rating on the Guide Michelin: Restaurant Le Plëss (1. July 2024)
The Le Plëss has been on my to-do list for quite a while already, and finally it was time to give this place a try. Frankly, I was surprised how empty the place was (even considering the fact that it was a Monday evening). However, after some time here, I must say, I’m not that […]
An absolutely outstanding dining experience worth trying when you’re in Vienna: Restaurant Z’Som (30. June 2024)
It is not entirely easy to find a good restaurant, which is open on a Sunday evening in Vienna, let alone one, which still has space on short notice. In any case, I was lucky enough to find the Z’Som, which is definitely worth visiting. They only offer a 6- or a 7-course-menu (EUR 109.00), […]
Nice, but not outstanding breakfast selection: Restaurant Elstar @ Hotel Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection (30. June 2024)
The breakfast selection at the Hotel Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection in the Elstar restaurant is quite decent. It ranges from a set of cold cuts … … to cheese, salmon, as well as a few different spreads … … a nice selection of fresh fruit and yogurt with fruit juices and smoothies … … […]
