A decent, but not really outstanding restaurant with a beach view: Restaurant Sabienglae Lamai (12. January 2024)
The Sabienglae was a recommendation by the hotel, and I was curious to see what it has to offer. Frankly, it’s the same here as in many other restaurants, which is the vast selection of dishes, which is really kind of mind-blowing that they claim to be able to consistently cook all those dishes at a high level. In any case, I went for the “fried rice with mixed vegetables” (70 THB), which was simple and enjoyable.
The “grilled beef with spicy sauce” (220 THB) was quite okay too. Personally, the meat lacked a bit of this meat flavour, the grill flavour, like something, which didn’t make it too bland, but in combination with the sauce, it was a decent bite.
The “massaman curry with beef” (185 THB) was somehow again one of my favourite dishes this evening. The meat was tender, the flavours of the curry were nice, so all in all, it was a decent dish.
If you book early enough, you can get a table by the beach front overlooking a bit of the ocean, which is quite nice, but keep in mind, this place is simple in terms of interior design, or rather exterior design, since you’re sitting outside.
So, all in all, the Sabienglae Lamai is a decent place, decent food, swift service, nice view by the ocean, but also full of mosquitos (so make sure to put some insect repellent, when you are intending to go here).
