Amazing sunset view, good service, and average food: Restaurant TawaNN @ Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa (9. January 2024)

| April 21, 2024 | 0 Comments

And finally, it was time to try the last on premise restaurant – the TawaNN. And what I absolutely liked about this place was the attentiveness of the service, but also that you have a beautiful view onto the sea at sunset. The evening started with a small dumpling to get your palate going, which I found a nice start.

Given my stomach wasn’t in the most stable condition, I decided to go for something simple like the “Gai Tom Ka-min (chicken clear soup with turmeric, shallot, lemon grass, tomato, kaffir lime leaf and spring onion)” (295 THB), which was actually truly enjoyable. What surprised me a bit is that to produce that, it took them 25 minutes. I mean, sure, things need to be prepared freshly, but a soup takes more than 15 minutes?! Come on …

The “Riceberry Rice” (50 THB), which I had ordered with the soup, arrived about 10 minutes later. And I do admit, this is something I absolutely did not like. Not sure why, but I found it, that evening, absolutely not good. Not the restaurant’s fault, but my palates’, still, I was surprised how much I disliked this.

All in all, the view you have from the TawaNN onto the sea at sunset is just gorgeous, and that alone is a reason to visit the place. On top of that, the staff is friendly and really does their best to make it a lovely experience. However, from a food perspective, this is not necessarily a place I would return to.
