10. April 2013: Restaurant da Angela
It is more than 10 years ago since I’ve last been to the Restaurant da Angela and I must say that my memories were not as good as the food this evening actually was. From the outside the building looks quite shabby but once you enter you quickly realize that the interior is nice, clean and welcoming. After being seated and our order for the aperitivo has been taken – Roero Arneis (1 DL, CHF 7.50) – we were served Bruschette which were fine.
As a main we went for “Tagliata di manzo ai quattro sapori” (CHF 56.00, minimal 2 people) which is shown to you on a large plate …
… and then neatly prepared on a plate …
… served with “patatine al rosmarino” …
… and various vegetables. And of course accompanied …
… by a “salsa al pepe verde”. The meat is incredibly tender and rich, the sauce is tasty but intense, the vegetables are fine and the rosmary potatoes are quite yummy too. The food is not mind-boggling but it is definitely extremely tasty and good. Loved it!
As a special desert of the night the “Crema Catalana” (CHF 11.00) was offered. The vanilla taste comes through pretty intense and the caramelized crust on top was good too. Perfect ending for a great dinner.
The service is as nice as the place – quick, friendly, jokingly, truly Italian – just the way you want an Italian waiter in an Italian restaurant to be! The prices are fair too – for the dishes as well as for the beverages (0,5L Pellegrino CHF 6.50; 1 DL IsSolus CHF 7.00 and a double espresso CHF 6.50).
Although I did not expect so, I must say the experience at the Restaurant da Angela was great – nice place, great food, good service! Definitely lovely and recommendable!
