16. April 2013: Restaurant Toscano im Puls 5
The “tomato with mozzarella di bufala” was a good start for lunch. The mozzarella was very tasty and richly refined with fresh basil – the tomatoes were already quite aromatic.
The main course was at the same time good and not – the “Coda di rospo al guazzetto” (monkfish medaillon in a basil white wine stock, served with lukewarm vegetables). While the monkfish was good the sauce was mind-blowing, truly delicous. But then on the other hand, the vegetables were just not tasting like anything, they did not even have taste of their own. After putting some salt, it was okay.
The dishes are fine, no question, but the side dish was definitely a disappointment. The prices are very fair though – considering that both courses account for only CHF 29.00. The same applies for the beverages (double espresso, CHF 6.00; San Pellegrino, 0,5L, CHF 6.00).
The place is nicely located, especially if you sit outside in the sun it is inviting to stay for hours and enjoy the weather. The service is friendly, helpful and rather quick. All in all, I can recommend the Restaurant Toscano in the Puls 5 – fair business lunch with fair service and nice decoration. The dishes are good but somehow did not fully blow my mind.
