6. May 2013: Restaurant Strozzi’s Fraumünster
The daily menu (CHF 25.90) started with an “insalata mista” which was rather boring. The salad was fresh of course but the sauce did not really provide me with the taste-wise blast.
The “Orecchiette with pesto cream sauce” on the other hand were quite fine. The pasta was cooked al dente and had this slight “crunchiness” still and a fine but smooth pesto sauce.
The price for the menu is very fair – and the same applies for the beverages (CHF 6.00 for 0,3L water) although I keep thinking that CHF 7.00 for a double espresso is quite a rip-off still but comparable across Zurich. The restaurant is located in a small courtyard with a fountain in the middle which provides you with a very chilly and relaxing feeling in central Zurich. While the service was friendly it was only limitedly competent – first we had to wait quite some time to be able to place our order. Then, we were served quite quickly with the main course and only when we told the waiter that our salad has not yet been brought to our table, he apologized and brought it. Last, when we wanted to pay the bill, it took me quite some time to make him notice.
