21. March 2010: Restaurang Café Kaffekoppen
The restaurant Café Kaffekoppen is situated on the island of Gamla stan (the metro stop is also called like this) right on the same place as the Matcafe Misteln. There are two entrances – one right to the front of the place where the nobel museum is located.
The other one basically right across the street of the entrance to the Matcafe Misteln. The interesting part is that you’re getting to two different levels of the restaurant depending on which entrance you’re choosing.
We decided to take the lower floor as the upper floor was full and ended up in a cellar. It’s really not a modern place but has a totally great atmosphere as it looks so crappy to a certain degree but has a nice wooden furniture. The darkness, the gfurniture, the stone walls and the underground location itself, create a really cozy feeling.
The waiters are friendly and helpful, bringing the menu at your table within a few minutes. The choice from the menu is not too big but there’s a nice choice of different sandwiches. I decided to have a turkey sandwich with Swedish mustard (don’t ask me why it’s called Swedish because it isn’t any special but spicy). The dishes are delivered real fast. The sandwich was good, but as the mustard, nothing special.
The place is definitely worth a visit on the cellar level but more recommendable for the evening as it definitely looks tempting to have a beer there. The price performance ratio is acceptable, as the place is nice, the waiters are fast, the food is okay and the prices are decent.
