30. May 2013: Restaurant Figlmüller

| June 25, 2013 | 1 Comments

When you want to eat at 9pm you think that it would not be problem to get a table – well, think again! There was a queue of about 15 people outside when we went there. Luckily, they have two Figlmüller’s which are very close to each other so we went to the other one and there we only had to wait for about 7 minutes until we got a table.

I had the typical “Schnitzel fried – the original for more than 100 years!” (EUR 13.90) which is so famous and which Figlmüller stands for! Well, I must say the schnitzel was definitely tasty and it had its appropriate size. If it really is “the best schnitzel in town” I am not 100% persuaded. I mean, it was good, no question, but it was far from mind-blowing but then again, maybe I am just expecting too much of a schnitzel.

The “potato salad with pumpkin seed oil” (EUR 4.20) was fine – a sound and good dish you can definitely enjoy as a side dish. The place itself is stylish but not overly appealing and the turnover is absolutely incredible. Even at this time of the day or rather night, the tables get full within minutes after it becomes free. The waiters are friendly, very busy and therefore limitedly attentive but still do a good job. I guess when you are in Vienna, you kind of have to come here – the schnitzel is really good!

You’re right not to be a 100% persuaded that this is the best Schnitzel in town… But it’s definitely the Schnitzel most well known in travel guides ;-)

E.g. Meierei im Stadtpark, the casual dining restaurant below the Steirereck, serves excellent Schnitzel; not as big in size, but definitely more tasty…
