2. – 3. July 2013: Mortons am Summerstage
Twice at the same place within two days is not what I usually do but sometimes it is just the right thing to do. The first time, I had a “grilled sirloin beef steak (200gr) with homemade French fries and half a corn cob” (EUR 13.40). I ordered the meat medium-rare but just got it medium which was not fully statisfying but at least the beef was of good quality. The service that night was fine, the waitress was friendly but started being quite annoying once she made a mistake and brought a second wheat beer (EUR 4.20) instead of a bottle of Grüner Veltliner, Christ, 2012 (0,75L; EUR 18.60). The place itself is quite nice right next to the Danube channel and stylishly decorated.
The next night I was there again as it was the invitation-only opening of the “Wein(Kultur)Festival”. Already at 7pm the place was quite crowded but you were in within seconds if on the list. The crowd was good, interesting, well-travelled and fun people!
Together with a wide selection of different white and red wines to try, a flying dinner was served raning from very tasty roastbeef to …
… even tastier lamb racks which were an explosion of taste and still make my mouth watery when I think about it! Also small desserts were served …
… and although – as my loyal fans know – I’m not a huge fan of chocolate, the chocolate cake refined with a strawberry was truly outstanding!
Personally, I had two great nights at Mortons am Summerstage – and while the place is only open temporarily every year in the summer months, I can highly recommend you going there and eventually even get to talk to the owner Oschi or the manager in charge, Rob. Both very interesting personalities!
