3. August 2013: Restaurant Mochi

| August 13, 2013 | 0 Comments

I was recommended the Restaurant Mochi a couple of times by a couple of friends and I tried getting a reservation – which proofed to be quite difficult. But in the end, i was able to get one with only a ten days waiting period – just for lunch though but it still proofed to be amazing! I started with 6 pieces of “Maki California (Surimi, Avocado)” (EUR 4.00) which were fresh and tasteful.

The “Nasu & Miso (eggplant au gratin, spring onions, bonito flakes, miso sauce)” (EUR 7.00) was similar to the one I tried at the Restaurant Atari-Ya and even better because the “bonito flakes” which are basically very thin dried tuna slices provide it with this extravagance.

As a next course, I tried 8 pieces of “Spicy Salmon Roll (spicy marinaded salmon tartar, avocado, cucumber)” (EUR 9.50) and it was mouth-watering. Aromatic salmon, a very nice subtle spiciness and a perfectly fitting combination of tastes.

The “US Rib Eye Daikon with teriyaki sauce and rice” (EUR 19.50) was definitely very fine, especially as the meat was somehow prepared in its very own juice which provided it with this very tasty savour but the quality of the meat was not homogeneous but varied quite a bit from piece to piece.

The dessert was a great ending to this lunch experience – the “Matcha Green Tea Crème Brûlée” (EUR 6.00) has a hard sugar crust and a flavourful, intense green tea crème brûlée which – in combination – provides a feeling of smoothness, crunchiness and gustatory explosion.

Not only the dishes are great – also the beverages. I went for the “Calpico” (0,5L, EUR 5.50) which is some kind of Japanese lemonade which is truly flavourful and aromatic and is some kind of milky white soft drink thinned out with soda water – delicious!

The waitresses and waiters are friendly, jocular but highly professional. Definitely great and dedicated service, nothing was forgotten and dishes and beverages have been served within minutes. But it is not only the good service, it is also the nice atmosphere – you are located under trees when you sit outside …

… and already from “far”, the place looks very appealing and welcoming!

Personally, I must say that it is definitely one of the best sushi places I have been to! If you get a reservation, I can absolutely recommend you to eat at the Restaurant Mochi! Truly delicious food for fair prices in a very nice atmosphere with good service!
