12. August 2013: Restaurant Steak Point City
The name of the restaurant already sounds quite promising and honestly speaking, it is quite fine. The “beef tatar Steak Point style with toast (100gr)” (EUR 10.90) is quite fine. The meat is tasty and the portion is rather big. Somehow it is a bit too dry (meaning, there is a bit an overlaying taste of too many spices which makes it somehow dry). Still, fine – especially given the price.
The “Pepper Steak (filet steak (200gr) with hash browns and pepper sauce” (EUR 23.90) was perfectly medium-rare as requested. The meat was tender and dissembling in my mouth but it had quite some venes and was actually somehow lacking this original “meat taste”. The hash browns were fine, the pepper sauce was rather simple and not too appealing as it did not have an intense pepper taste and was of a very watery consistency.
The place itself is simply but nicely decorated – although the upper floor (non-smoking) is quite dark. The service is friendly but needs quite some time to actually show up and take up the order. The prices are fair for what you get which also applies for the beverages (0,5L Trumer Pils, EUR 3.80).
Overall, the Restaurant Steak Point City is a fine place for meat but honestly speaking there are better premises in Vienna for tasty meat!
