1. September 2013: Restaurant 5 Senses @Hotel Novotel
I can’t mention it often enough but Delinski.at definitely is a great guide for good food in Vienna. As a little surprise from the kitchen, “Zucchini with bell pepper foam” was served – simple but nice taste (cover charge, EUR 2.90, respectively EUR 2.03).
As a starter I went for the “stinging nttle foam soup with rye bread and tomato seed oil” (EUR 5.10, respectively EUR 3.57) and I must admit it was a taste I have never tried before so it was quite surprising.
In order to actually try some of the typical dishes offered in the restaurant, I went for their “4-4 you main course” (EUR 21.70, respectively EUR 15.19) which consisted of four small dishes: “king prawns”, “chick peas with eggplants”, “grilled tofu with caramelized vegetables”, “Nether Austria filet of beef, truffle jus, mashed potatoes, crispy carrots”. The king prawn was tasty, the chick peas with eggplants surprisingly good and even the tofu was great in taste (which I absolutely did not expect). Last but not least the beef filet which I tried last (sparing the last thing for the end) was a but disappointing as the structure an quality of the meat was definitely below my expectations.
As always the prices are very fair for the dishes when you book via Delinski.at and so it applies for beverages too: Römerquelle Sparkling (EUR 5.90, respectively EUR 4.13), 1/8 Cuvee Hiedler (EUR 4.90, respectively EUR 3.43) and double espresso (EUR 4.20, respectively EUR 2.94). The place is quite okay when it comes to the atmosphere but it is a hotel restaurant and those rarely provide you with this feeling of comfortable. The service was friendly, attentive and did a good job.
As initially stated, Delinski.at does a good job in picking their restaurants they have but I must say this one was definitely not one of the leading ones I have been so far.
