6. November 2013: Restaurant EF16
Once more, Delinski.at made it possible to have a great experience for a very fair price performance ratio. The starting point was “beetroot and truffle spread” where especially the beet root spread was rich in taste (part of the cover charge, EUR 2.50, respectively EUR 1.75).
The “beef tatar, quailegg sunny side up and homemade toasted bread” (EUR 13.50, respectively EUR 9.45) was delicious. The quailegg was incredibly tasty and the beef tatar was aromatic and of good quality. As simple the dish was presented as tasty it was.
As it is “goose time” at this time of the year, I went for the “Crispy St. Martin’s goose with glazed chestnuts, red cabbage with apples and potato dumplings” (EUR 18.70, respectively EUR 13.09). The goose was aromatic, tender and smooth – the sauce was not too intense but well-balanced and the sweetness of the chestnuts with the red cabbage and apples just made the dish perfectly round. Only the potato dumpling was not entirely to my liking.
The place itself is somehow an old cellar which looks somehow very welcoming at first and it is also nicely furnished but somehow it just lacks a bit in atmosphere. I am not able to put my finger on it but it was just somehow not perfect.
The prices are moderate – and of course even better if you book via Delinski. The same applies for the beverages (Vöslauer sparkling, 0,75L, EUR 4.60, respectively EUR 3.22; double espresso, EUR 3.60, respectively EUR 2.52). The service is actually quite fine – the waiter is dedicated, friendly and quite quick at the table when you need him.
To sum it up, the place is well-hidden, has quite an okay atmosphere, good dishes and fair prices (even better ones with Delinski).
