18. December 2013: Restaurant Bristol @ Hotel Bristol

| December 26, 2013 | 0 Comments

The surprise menu of the recently re-opened and renovated Restaurant Bristol at the Hotel Bristol started with a tasty “cream soup of purple carrot”. The soup was creamy and very aromatic.

Next was the char which was nicely juicy and had a nice cross skin. The accompanying vegetables were full of taste and quite aromatic. The portion was respectively small but definitely a great combination of single elements ending up in a truly taste buds triggering momentum.

To the first courses a nice bottle of Grüner Veltliner was served which was aromatic but very light and was therefore the perfect drink for the dishes. Next was a “truffeled celery soup …”

… with celery inlay. The soup was very smooth and aromatic. Personally, I would have preferred it a tiny bit thicker and not so liquid but it was taste-wise absolutely amazing. The truffles had a very subtle and nice taste and were only giving a hint of truffle scent and taste away – perfectly harmonized!

For the next course, a “Cuvée Altenburg, Sommer vineyard” was served which a “peach melba” – it was very refreshing and ideally preparing the palatine for the main course.

The lamb was perfectly smooth and tender, had a great aroma and was not having any lamb side taste. The accompanying vegetables perfectly matched with the lamb and the even better tasting sauce which came with it.

The last course was somehow the most surprising one – when I saw “The Chocolate” I was in awe because I thought it was pure chocolate but luckily it was only a hull which was empty inside and contained incredibly tasty chocolates inside. The beaten gold on top of the chocolate looked nice – for decoration purposes and had – as always – no taste effect.

Last but not least, the friandises were served which were the perfect ending of a great evening – accompanied by a double espresso and a “Bric del Gaian, 2004” from Berta. The renovation is definitely a success – the dining hall is absolutely beautiful, somehow modernly designed but still maintaining the overall style of the Hotel Bristol.

The service is absolutely exquisite – very close to perfect. Small elements like the side from which the plates are taken or the water is re-filled was not always correct but besides that, there is absolutely nothing to complain. The service is not only very professional but also very friendly.

I can absolutely recommend to dine at the Restaurant Bristol – absolutely great atmosphere, very tasty dishes, great service and probably also fair price performance ratio (can’t say anything about it as I was invited by the hotel).
