17. January 2014: Restaurant Dörfli
I’ve been to the Restaurant Dörfli last year in March for the last time (read the review) and already then I’ve figured that it is a simple but fair cuisine – and it still is. I started with a “lamb’s lettuce with bacon and bread croutons” (CHF 12.50) which was pretty average – the salad was fresh, the bacon was good and the croutons were crunchy but the salad sauce was rather industrial in taste.
As a main I had a quite typical Swiss dish – “Rösti with fresh calf’s liver and shallots, roasted in butter” (CHF 36.50). The rösti was definitely way too crunchy, almost a bit burned and definitely too dry for my taste. The calf’s liver was too chewy and not so great in taste. Definitely nothing I will try again at this place.
The place itself is okay – very simply furnished and decorated and definitely a simple place to grab your lunch – you get your nutrition but not much beyond that. The prices are quite okay for the dishes but also for the beverages – 0,5L Rhäzünser account for CHF 5.00, a double espresso for CHF 6.00. Overall, the Restaurant Dörfli is okay to grab a quick lunch – but it definitely does not go beyond that.
