8. February 2014: Restaurant La Taqueria

| February 11, 2014 | 0 Comments

When walking by the last time I was already curious what is being built right there and I must admit that I was actually going there only to figure that it was still closed (and hadn’t opened by then) – La Taqueria where, as the homepage had promised, true Mexican food was served.

Obviously, I had to go for something typically Mexican. That day, the “Plato Al Pastor con Tortillas” (CHF 19.90) looked most appealing to me. The spicy pork meat is definitely well-seasoned and flavourful. As a matter of fact pretty much everything on the plate is great – only the coleslaw salad does not quite fit there.

What is quite fine though is the “Salsa de Habaneros” (which you specifically have to ask for as it is indeed quite hot and most Europeans would not be able to take it) – and let me tell you, it was definitely hot as hell!

The perfect way to cool down this feeling when your tongue is basically just itching from spiciness is a “Aqua Horchata” (CHF 4.90) which is definitely a drink I have never had or even seen in Switzerland before – actually never outside of Mexico. And let me tell you, it is tasty!

The place itself is quite appealing too – as it was newly built it is definitely modern and has a nice atmosphere. The concept is a bit uncommon as you have to go to the counter in order to order your food which is then brought to you within a couple of minutes only. The service is friendly but a bit confused (mixed up the plates at first). All in all, if you have ever had the real Mexican food I can definitely recommend you to eat at the La Taqueria – great flavours, nice place, atmospheric!
