6. March 2014: Restaurant La Baracca
I had been recommended the Restaurant La Baracca a couple of times already and finally made it to try it out. As a starter I had the “Il Tagliere di Salumi e Formaggi” (CHF 17.50 per person) which was a nice selection of cold cuts and cheeses which was served with bread. Tasty dish, fair in price.
As a main course, I had the “Tris di Pasta, Lasciate Fare a Me” (CHF 31.50) which was a nice selection of three different types of pasta. Tagliatelle with truffles which were perfectly al dente and quite tasty, the tomato spaghetti were actually quite fine too – only the seafood pasta was not entirely to my liking to be entirely honest.
The atmosphere is very nice – as it is like in a typical Italian restaurant you can find in Italy. Small, cramped, people sit together randomly at the same table and the waiter is friendly, dedicated and actually an Italian – which you do not really find this often these days. The prices are actually also quite fair – starting from the food but also for the beverages (e.g. double espresso, CHF 5.50; mineral water, CHF 7.50). And last but not least, they also serve quite good wine (i.e. Barbera d’Asti, La Court – CHF 84.00). Overall, definitely a nice Italian restaurant with nice Italian food for reasonable prices.
