8. March 2014: Restaurant Seerose
The “Tatar de Boeuf with Toast, Butter and Bouquet de Salade” (CHF 36.00) is lovely prepared and actually also quite tasty. The salad is good with aromatic sauce, the tatare de boeuf is smooth, rich and flavourful and can be eaten just like that – not needing any toasted bread.
While the atmosphere at the Restaurant Seerose is lovely as always directly next to the lake shore, the waiter did not entirely match that. Somehow he tried to be polite as he was trained to do but unfortunately the moment of – I do not really want to serve you – shone through strongly by neglecting, not being really that friendly. A pity because else the place is perfect.
The only little downturn besides that particular waiter were the prices – CHF 36.00 for a bit of tartare is steep but okay for Zurich and the view and the “Medina (green tea with mint)” (CHF 7.50) was at least appropriately tasty. Overall, the Restaurant Seerose is a lovely place – great atmosphere, good food, okay prices and mediocre service.
