9. May 2014: Restaurant Rössli
The “carrot saffron soup” had an intense taste of carrot while providing a slight hint of saffron – a simple but definitely tasty dish which came with the main course as a lunch menu that day.
Whilte the soup was a great start the main course which was “grilled salmon filet with asparagus ravioli” (CHF 27.00) did not entirely persuade me. The salmon was fine but a bit too dry – also the slice was rather small and did not provide you with enough to not be hungry after lunch. Besides that, the asparagus ravioli – while being a nice idea – were somehow lacking a bit in taste.
The place itself is simple, traditional, rural but nice – while the waitress was absolutely friendli the owner did not really put much effort into being friendly and helpful towards the guests which was somehow a bit of a surprise. However, the prices are absolutely fair (which is true for the dishes but also for the beverages, i.e. espresso for CHF 4.30, a glass of coke for CHF 5.50). Overall, the experience at the Restaurant Rössli was an okay one but definitely did not go beyond that.
