20. May 2014: Restaurant Der Fette Bulle
The “Der Fette Bulle” (German for the fat bull) with “double meat, double cheese, jalapeños, and ham” (EUR 9.99) is a very delicious burger. The meat is absolutely juicy, the cheese is aromatic and the buns are nicely toasted. And obviously the jalapeños provide the perfect amount of spiciness.
The “Fresh French Fries with thyme and rosmary” (EUR 3.29) on the other hand are pretty regular fries refined with herbs. Nice, no question but not overly amazing. The “chilli mayo sauce” (EUR 0.49) on the other hand was simple but tasty and also had pieces of chili in it which made it truly delicious.
The interior of the “Der Fette Bulle” is somehow simply and has a certain similarity with how I imagine a butchery to look like but they managed to make it appealing by having a large bull on the wall and at the same time having put up the menu on the wall. The prices are absolutely fair – even the beer (0,33L) is okay with EUR 3.50.
The waiters are friendly, okay in service speed and like to chat with the customers. Overall, the experience at the Restaurant Der Fette Bulle was a pleasant one – hearty, tasty, juicy burgers, a bit disappointing fries, nice atmosphere, good service and very fair price performance ratio!
