19. June 2014: Restaurant El Agave
The “mixed salad with Mexican salad sauce” (slightly hot) is a fair start for lunch – especially as it is included in the lunch menu, one can definitely not complain about the size or the selection of ingredients present in the salad. What is a bit of a disappointment though is the fact that there are only two menus present you can pick from. While there is – apparently – a menu in the evening, the selection for lunch is rather limited.
However, this day they had offered “beef with cheese and rice” (unfortunately, I forgot to take down the name of the dish) (CHF 23.00). The dish itself was very simple but definitely good in taste. Only the rice was a tiny bit too dry for my taste but else it is a cheap, tasty and satisfying meal.
The price is more than fair – I guess for this price it is difficult to find something which can stuff your stomach and actually having both, a good salad and a full meal for lunch. And the same applies to the water (0,5L Rhäzünser bottle, CHF 4.50) and double espresso (CHF 4.50). The waiter is absolutely friendly and does a good job. Overall, I can recommend the Restaurant El Agave for lunch – very small selection but fair food for very fair prices in a simple but nice atmosphere and friendly service.
