16. August 2014: Restaurant Ah-Hua II
Having a discussion about eating out very frequently and often in restaurants which were rather high in price, my friend recommended me to enjoy lunch at the Restaurant Ah-Hua II where the food is good and the prices are low. Always curious to find places which serve good food, I went for the “Thot Man Pla (deep-fried Thai fish cake served with sweet chillis sauce)” (CHF 12.00) which was definitely interesting. I guess deep-fried Thai fish cake is not really my thing – it is fine, tasty for one bite but not really much more.
As a main course, I went for “Ped Yang” (grill marinaded duck Peking style)” (CHF 25.00) with a side order of rice (+ CHF 3.00). Admittedly, the Peking style duck was definitely great in taste but one of the most annoying things to eat (until I finally had ordered a knife).
With regards to the place – it has its own atmosphere, no question but frankly speaking this is definitely not really the atmosphere I was looking for. However, at least the service is friendly (but barely speaks any German in my understanding). What was not so cool though is the fact that the dishes came at different times. Having ones dish while then having to wait a couple of minutes for the company’s dish is not such a pleasant experience. All in all, the food is fine (especially for the prices) and so are the beverages (“Oishi Green Tea Original” CHF 4.50). Overall, I can recommend you the Restaurant Ah-Hua II for a quick lunch as the food is good and comparatively cheap for Zurich. However, if you would plan to have a date, pick another place.
