31. August 2014: Restaurant Altes Gasthaus Leve

| October 4, 2014 | 0 Comments

The “Original Caesar salad with freshly grinded parmesan, baguette croûtons and stripes of beef steak” (EUR 13.80) was a great start for dinner. The salad is good and the stripes of beef steak were actually perfectly medium grilled and quite aromatic. One hint with regards to its size though – the caesar salad is sold as a starter but it is a large starter. If you are not tremendously hungry you should just order this plate and you will have had enough for the night – I did not know that beforehand unfortunately.

When I got another salad for my main course I started wondering why as I was entirely sure that I had not ordered anything with salad but as the dinner had a business character to some degree I did not pay so much attention to what I had ordered and accepted the salad (also because the waitress, Ms. Pamp, was very friendly, helpful, and entertaining).

When I was served the “Steak Café de Paris” (EUR 14.50) I realized that I had been served the wrong course. But as the night was progressing I decided not to complain and to just eat what I was served. And to my surprise – as it did not look too appealing to me – it was actually quite tasty.

The huge bowl of potatoes (for two) was definitely too much – the potatoes were fine though. A bit greasy but fine. I genuinely wonder though how the hell it is possible to eat that much! At least the prices are very moderate (which also applies to the 0,4L Potts Fest beer for EUR 3.90).

As mentioned previously, our waitress, Ms. Pamp was very friendly, very helpful, and due to this fact the service was still exquisite despite the wrong main course. The place itself is nice, a traditional, old restaurant which has been there for many years and will most likely continue to exist for many more years to come. If you are into traditional, heavy German cuisine, the Restaurant Altes Gasthaus Leve is definitely a good place to go to.
