22. May 2010: Gelateria Grom

| May 23, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Gelateria Grom is located in the extension of the Corso di Porta Ticinese and therefore reachable by either tram 3 or by a little walk from the yellow line (stop: Missori). Grom is a chain which is originally based in Torino and has now spread all over Italy. It’s supposed to be really famous for its naturally-made ice cream.

The building looks quite okay from the outside, modern and inviting. If you like the “cold” style – but this somehow fits to ice cream.

The inside of the place is also very nice, as it is held clean, offers sofas to sit down and enjoy your icecream.

The guys behind the counter are very friendly and helpful – even when it takes you ages to decide upon the ice cream flavours you actually want (as it happened it took my friends ages to decide upon flavours). The flavours to choose from are quite exhaustive and are mostly inviting – no weird kind of flavours like in Ben&Jerry’s.

The ice cream is somehow quite good – but on the other hand you can taste that it actually is made naturally as the taste-intensivizers are somehow missing meaning you realize that they’re in usual ice cream and you miss them the moment they are not there anymore.

The prices are decent: 2.5 EUR for a small cup, 3 EUR for a medium and 4 EUR for a large one.

Grom is definitely a place you should check out once you walk across it – the price is nice, the place is nice, the service is great and the taste of the ice cream is absolutely good too – just not as intense as industrially design ice cream.
