15. September 2014: Restaurant Altes Gasthaus Leve
The switch from the rather light Valencian to the rather heavy German kitchen was quite impacting. In order to adapt slowly, I decided to go for a plate of “muscat pumpkin cream soup with pumpkin seeds” (EUR 4.70) and while it had probably been cooked in the pot the whole day it was actually quite fine in taste.
As I have been here just two weeks ago where I enjoyed the “Original Caesar salad with freshyl grinded parmesan and baguette croûtons, served with stripes of beef” (EUR 13.80), I decided to have the dish as a main course and it was still absolutely enough. However, the caesar salad is actually still tasty and the beef stripes are not too bad either.
The service was friendly and helpful and when we had placed our orders it went rather quickly until we received our beers (Pinkus Classic, 0,4L; EUR 3.70) and dishes. The place is absolutely traditional and it is great to see that you have to book a table in advance on a Monday night as the place is packed. However, the food is very German, quite heavy, and the place is simple. If you want to stuff yourself, then it is the perfect place, if you are looking for something light, probably not so much.
