22. September 2014: Restaurant Theresa

Still my absolutely favourite restaurant for meat in Munich – the “carrot ginger passion fruit soup” was a little surprise from the kitchen before starting with the actual order. The soup was nicely refreshing and had a sweet note to it.

In order to share the starters and to get the broadest possible experience, the “Burrata (colourful tomatoes, nectarine, basil)” (EUR 13.50) was ordered first. The quality and freshness of the burrata was great – the combiation with the nectarines and the tomatoes, reinforced by the basil, was a great and light start.

While the picture definitely looks not too appealing as the quality of the picture is bad, the “beef tatar” (with capers, anchovies, egg, mustard, onions, parsley) (EUR 13.50) was absolutely delicious. The meat is tender, aromatic, and rich.

While the “Roastbeef / Txogitxu / 35 Tage Dry aged, 300gr” (EUR 38.00 for two) looks kind of disappointing at first from its size, I must admit that it was actually great in taste. The aroma of the charcoal, the grill taste, the tenderness of the meat, and the great structure made this piece of meat incredibly delicious!

Even the “peas from Paris” (EUR 4.50) which were rather simple (peas in butter with onions) are good in taste and match well with the roastbeef. With regards to the beverages one must say that the prices are quite fair – even for the wine (e.g. a bottle of “2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico “Torre de Falasco”, Valpantena, Venetien” accounts for EUR 69.00).

The place itself is still absolutely lovely – while furnished modernly and, therefore, seemingly a bit cold, the place is actually really atmospheric which is not only caused by the interior design but also by the crowd which usually dines at this restaurant. The waiters do a great job – while they are not only patient but also very friendly and quite competent, they were not even pushing when we were the last table to finish and leave the restaurant around midnight. All in all, the Restaurant Theresa is still my absolutely favourite steak restaurant in Munich – worth going and worth booking a table in advance!
