18. October 2014: Eclipse @ W Barcelona
Somehow I always end up going to Eclipse at the W in Barcelona when I am in Barcelona – and I still understand why I do so. The view you have from there is breath-taking, even when it is dark and you don’t get to look that far. However, the place is still nice, the crowd a bit too old and too full of gold diggers but it is just atmospheric.
What is definitely not nice though is the behaviour of the staff in the following situation: If you arrive before 11pm you are free to move around the whole club. Around midnight they start to remove you to the “general area” which is artifically created to ensure a “VIP area” where people are seated which are ready to pay for a bottle. I get that the customers who pay are the kings but what I do not get is the unfriendly way the staff treats you when you do not move immediately requesting to be allowed to finish your drink. A small blonde waitress with curly hair was especially rude – even taking away the only half empty glass and being all pissed when we requested it back. I am a big fan of the W Barcelona and SPG but this is not the way one treats customers! Else, still absolutely recommendable.
