29. May 2010: Restaurant @Hotel zum Weissen Kreuz

| May 30, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Hotel zum Weissen Kreuz is located within walking distance from the main station of Lucerne (as basically almost everything is). It’s at the top of the “Rathaustreppe” and situated parallelly to the river Reuss but one row in the back. It looks okay from the outside but is nicer from the inside.

On the upper floor, the restaurant looks nice but it looks much nicer on the lower floor where there is only a little room located for around 25 people where also a little bar is located.

The atmosphere on the lower level is really nice as the size of the room makes it somehow cozy and the light which is dimmed supports this atmosphere.

The waiter is friendly and helpful being at disposition quite quickly usually. Even though we were 14 people and some of us had special wishes for their orders everything was brought correctly to the table.

The pizza I’ve ordered was a “Pizza alla Diavola” with additional gorgonzola cheese and anchovies. It was absolutely tasty and really good for a pizza not being made in Italy. It’s thin and crusty and the toppings are absolutely tasty.

The prices – overall – are quite okay, but the fact that additional toppings are charged with CHF 1.50 each is somehow a bit too much, I think. Especially, it hasn’t been mentioned in the moment we’ve placed the order. Not that it would have made a difference, but in the end, it’s a waiters duty to actually inform the client about potential additional cost.
