29. May 2010: Lounge & bar suite
The lounge & bar suite (former P1) is located right next to the main station in Lucerne and therefore easily reachable by any kind of transportation (be it public or private). The suite is located on the top floor (7th floor) of the Hotel Monopol. You have to enter trough the main entrance of the hotel and go up to the top floor with the elevator, passing the bouncer which is usually quite annoying.
The atmosphere of the place is quite nice as it is held modern but somehow still provides a warm and comfortable feeling.
If you walk up the stairs to the upper floor, there are two balconies – one on each side. The bigger one offers a bar where you can get your drinks and is also furnished in a nice way. The view from the top of the roof all over Lucerne is splendid. Unfortunately, you can’t see too much on the picture but it’s really awesome.
The waiters are generelly very friendly and helpful – although the bar on the roof terrace was already closed when we arrived, he still sold us some beers. Unfortunately, shortly after, the bouncer appeared and sent us down as they’ve closed the terrace. This is somehow disappointing as you just get up there and they basically immediately send you back down – but I suppose, it was just bad timing.
The prices are okay for the drinks – taking into account the atmosphere and view provided.
The suite is a nice place to have a beer on the roof terrace and to have a splendid look all over Lucerne – with nice weather, the perfect place to enjoy Lucerne.
