11. December 2014: Restaurant Momoya
The lunch menu you get here comes with a “miso soup” as a starter which is astonishingly rich and has quite a lot of ingredients in it making it a rich start.
The main course I chose was “spicy duck – cripsy duck with seasonal vegetables and chili, with steamed yasmine rice” (EUR 8.90) which was fine. The duck was not entirely to my taste as the meat was a bit too fat-rippled but else the dish was fine. What was surprising was the time it took to serve the main dish after the starter had been served – I mean, within 30 seconds after having finished the miso soup, the main course was brought.
The “Japanese Cherry Tea” (EUR 3.50) on the other side was not only served in a very pretty way but was actually tasty.
And as a little surprise you even got a small “panna cotta” when you ordered the bill – which I consider quite generous especially as the panna cotta was very tasty.
The place itself is rather simple but comfortable and the service does a good job – being very friendly, being very quick, but I experienced something I have experienced many times before in many different restaurants – the moment you ask for the bill, it suddendly takes them ages to realize that you want to pay and leave. Here, you just have to walk up to the waitress to get that done. Overall, the Momoya is a good place to have a quick lunch for a fair price.
