2. January 2015: Restaurant Dafra @ Sheraton Casablanca Hotel & Towers
After the breakfast in the Le Méridien in N’Fis I did not really have too high expectations about the breakfast in Casablanca in the Sheraton. However, for 240 MAD per person, you get quite an exquisite breakfast. The selection is huge – you get to pick from dried fruits …
… jams, pastries and even bacon …
… various breads …
… cheese, yoghurts, cold cuts …
… fresh fruit …
… fruit juices …
… fish, and even sushi. As well as hummus with pita bread …
… vegetables and cereals …
… and last but not least there is also an egg station where you can get your cheese and ham omelet. The food is good, the personnel is very friendly and professional and does a great job. There is always someone at your table, bringing you your “thé à la menthe” within an instance and when your glass empties, the waitress had already noticed and brought another cup of tea to you. That is service I truly and genuinely like (and expect). Frankly, the Dafra is the perfect place to have breakfast when you are in Casablanca.
However, while the general service in the Le Méridien N’Fis in Marrakesh was great, and the food-related service sucked, here it is almost the other way round. In the Sheraton Casablanca Hotel & Towers the food-related service is outstanding – and the other service kind of lacks compassion and quality. You always have to wait at the counter – there might be three people, standing there, chatting, noticing you, but deciding to ignore you. Only when you really make clear that you want something (although, why the hell else would you stand there?!), finally one of them decides to move and come to you.
