3. February 2015: Havana Café Gourmet
It is always a problem when you are suddendly very hungry and feel like you have to eat something just now. The result was to end up at the “Havana Café Gourmet”. A name which does not sound too promising in the first place. The menu is rather cheap though with 11’000 COP and it started with a “vegetable soup” which was rather dull and one was not entirely able to identify what you got there on your table.
The main course was “beef with fried bananas and rice”. When the knife was served I was already happy to receive quite a piece of meat – and well, I got these tiny little things instead which was a disappointment. Talking about expectation management: huge failure here! However, one could eat everything which was served.
The service is generally friendly and jovial but lacks attention. In our group some got the first course while others got the drinks, and then the drinks were missing of some and while the first ones were done with the starter, others already got the main course while others did have neither starter nor main.
To sum it up, the Havana Café Gourmet is not a place I would recommend – run-down atmosphere, unattentive (but friendly) service, average food but at least price-wise quite okay.
