18. February 2015: Sheraton Club Lounge @ Sheraton Airport Hotel Düsseldorf
Spending another night at the Sheraton and arriving rather late, I figured there was no more food in the lounge so I decided to have “room service” but enjoy the food in the lounge which was absolutely no problem. I went for the “Classic Caesar Salad (Romana salad with Caesar dressing, parmesan, fried chicken breast stripes)” (EUR 9.00) which was quite okay. Definitely not an outstanding dish but sound and actually big enough so you would be satisfied after just the salad.
However, I went for a second course which was apparently the “plate of the day consisting of salmon, zander, tuna, and a king prawn with warm vegetable salad and an apple-soy reduction” (EUR 17.00). While at first I was wondering a bit why I would have ordered somethign like a fish dish in a city like Düsseldorf, I quickly lost the thought when I tried the fish. I must say I was positively surprised as it was quite good. Definitely nothing like getting it fresh from the market or the like but sound and good.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and would let me eat in the lounge although it was officially closed already. Only when the main course arrived I was kindly asked if I mind to have my main course in the actual restaurant – which I did not. Very friendly indeed, thumbs up! The prices are typical in-room dining prices – not mind-blowingly expensive but definitely not on the cheap side. The atmosphere in the lounge is okay but also far from superpleasant – the service is definitely a big plus though! Keep it up!
