3. March 2015: Restaurant Hitomi
I went for the lunch menu but was surprised with a miso soup (EUR 2.40) which was not charged as the miso soup is apparently not part of the lunch menu but another one is. Not that I had noticed if the waitress would not have come up to me and brought me a second soup while explaining why she did so. The miso soup was okay as it had quite some ingredients in it.
So the “correct” “menu soup” (without knowing what it was) was then brought to my table and it was surprisingly rich but it was also rather large resulting in the fact that I was almost full right after having had the two soups. What was a bit ackward though was the fact that the soup had seafood in it – ackward because I had ordered the “meat menu”.
Next, there was a small “salad with tomatoes and avocado”. It lacked sauce but was fresh and I liked it surprisingly much.
So, after quite some time, the “meat menu (sushi, sashimi, grilled duck, beef, and rice as well as lychee)” (EUR 17.80) was served. The fish was surprisingly good – especially considering the price you pay for the menu. The meat was okay but definitely not of an outstanding quality but fair.
What was really tasty was the “ginger tea” (EUR 2.50) as it was quite large and prepared with fresh ginger. The place is supersimple though so not really where you would want to have an anniversary dinner or the like but the dishes are fair in price and the quality is okay.
With regards to the service, the waiters were friendly and trying to help but during lunch time it seemed to me that it was a bit too much for them to cope with all the small tables. Overall, the Restaurant Hitomi is a good place to have a quick lunch.
