13. March 2015: Restaurant Schwyzer Stubli
Without a navigation system I probably would not have found this place. But once you find it you enter a little kingdom of comfy! The restaurant is basically like an old châlet but in the middle of the city of Schwyz. The interior is decorated with engravings from a couple of decades or centuries ago. Lovely atmosphere, really. The evening started then with “sprouts, ham, cabbage”. Very simple starter but perfect to start with a typical Swiss meal.
Before we actually got to start the dinner, we received some “olive spread, butter, and herb salt” which was average in taste but a nice gesture.
As a starter I had the “wild garlic cream soup with filled morrels” (CHF 12.50) which was aromatic, taste-intense. The stuffed morrels had the perfect consistency and added a little extra to the soup.
The “pork filet wrapped in bacon from the Muotathal covered in a gorgonzola crust with marsala jus, sapphron risotto and vegetables” (CHF 36.00) was incredibly taste-intense. The bacon, the marsala jus and the gorgonzola crust really created an intense explosion of flavour. I generally like that but that was even for my personal gusto a bit too much.
Last but not least, a couple of friandises were served to the double espresso (CHF 6.80) which were absolutely good. The prices are also fair for the beverages (i.e. Roero Arneis, 1Dl, CHF 7.50; Salmos, 1Dl, CHF 9.00; 0,75l water, CHF 9.50). The service does a good job, very friendly, very helpful but is sometimes a bit unattentive.
When it came to paying the bill, we had to wait quite a bit until the waitress finally arrived. However, I can recommend the Schwyzer Stubli as the food is good, the prices are fair, the atmosphere is lovely, and the service also does a good job.
