18. March 2015: Restaurant Nikos

| May 15, 2015 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Nikos is not really centrally located in Münster but it is worth the short drive as the dishes are really good. The “Mezedes” consisting of zaziki, taramas, skordalia, wine leaves, pickled zucchini and eggplants, red bell peppers, cabbage, feta cheese, olives, peperoncini, seafood” (EUR 16.90) is absolutely enough for quite a couple of people (at least 3 – 4 people). The selection is absolutely rich but a bit strong in garlic, however, absolutely worth trying.

As a main we went for the “Rhodos Plate” (consisting of gyros, souflaki, kefte, lamb joints, liver, pork fillet, chicken, baked potatoes and rice) (EUR 37.90) which was sold as “enough for two people” but is actually much more enough for something like 4 to 5 people. The meat quality is good and the food is aromatic – if you are a hungry group, then the Rhodos plate is definitely something rich.

Besides that we were offered to get a “seafood plate” (which is usually not on the menu) with “trout, gilthead, gambas, calamari, mussles, and sides) (EUR 49.90). The fish was good too but very strongly fried so everything kind of tasted fried – quite okay as Münster is probably also not the place to go for seafood but it was absolutely fine.

To each of the plates (meat and fish) a bowl of “feta, tomato, onion salad” was served. However, the salad is relatively small compared to the rest of the dishes (which is rather extensive).

The place is a bit small but nice and comfortable. The service is very friendly and helpful and also quite jovial. Overall, I can recommend you to go to the Restaurant Nikos – although a bit outside, definitely worth the short drive.
