15. May 2015: Restaurant Shinsen Japanese Food Culture
The “edamame” (CHF 6.50) is a good start for a sound lunch – however, it is quite heavily seasoned and salt is applied absolutely generously – actually even a bit too much.
The “Bento Tuna (tuna tatar with rice; 2 nigiri (1x tuna, 1x salmon), 4 hosomaki (2 salmon avocado, 2 tuna); 4 tuna sashimi, 4 salmon sashimi)” (CHF 36.00) is one of the better sushi / sashimi I have tried so far in Zurich. The quality of the fish is excellent and the aroma is outstanding and frankly, that you get a tuna tatar with your menu I have never experienced before in Switzerland.
Even the “tea” (CHF 3.50) is worth trying. Overall, the food and beverages at the Restaurant Shinsen Japanese Food Culture are delicious. The atmosphere is very comfortable – somehow a mixture between a very simple interior design and the sweetness that you get to have a look directly into the kitchen where the sushi is being prepared.
Overall, I can absolutely recommend the Restaurant Shinsen Japanese Food Culture for a sushi lunch – worth trying!
