16. June 2015: Restaurant Neumarkt

The “beef tatar of the Swiss angus beef with toast and butter” (CHF 24.00) was quite okay. The quality of the beef was good but it somehow lacked a bit in taste, however …

… if you refined it with the respective spices it was quite a decent tatar. The selection of toast was rather limited …

… and the problem was that they were not really available when you needed them as the service is super unattentive. I even started waving with my hands in the air and they still didn’t react which became quite annoying after some time.

The “Züri Gschnätzlets” (veal stripes Zurich style) (CHF 35.00) were frankly speaking a bit of a disappointment. The overall dish looked quite okay but I must say it was not really what I expected or am used to taste-wise. What I considered quite a rip-off is the fact that they charge you a solid CHF 7.00 for the “bio noodles” on top of the CHF 35.00 for the actual dish.

At least the prices for the beverages are okay – with CHF 5.20 for a double espresso, CHF 5.20 for 0,33l beer and CHF 10.00 for 1L of mineral water. The atmosphere of the place is absolutely nice, tiny, traditional, held in wood. To sum it up, my expectations were not fully satisfied. I mean, the place is nice but the food is average and the prices are relatively steep for what you get. And as friendly as the service is, they were incredibly unattentive that night.
