What is absolutely outstanding about “Chez Fritz” is the atmosphere. You are seated right next to Lake Zurich and get to have a marvelous view onto the lake, especially if the evening approaches and it gets slowely dark. I went for the “tatar de boeuf Chez Fritz” (CHF 19.80) as a starter which was quite okay. The salad was actually refreshing and the beef was okay. It lacked a bit in taste and was a bit blunt but the quality of the meat was fine. Funny enough, that didn’t matter that much anymore after having waited for approximately 15 to 20 minutes until the water was brought to the table, respectively the waitress first brought the dishes of our table to another table right next to us.

As a main course, I had “zander filet Chez Fritz memière with almonds, colourful market vegetables and young potatoes” (CHF 41.80). The fish was a bit too dry for my personal gusto but the selection of vegetables was actually great. And guess what, again, they were not able to locate the table and tried to serve our dishes to another table. I mean, okay, so you are maybe new in the job, fine, but you should be able to memorize like 5 tables and what they have (or write it down for God’s sake). My company, a frequent visitor of Chez Fritz, said though that the service was bad this evening – and not comparable to normal.

The prices are absolutely reasonable for what you get in the Chez Fritz – especially if you take into account the marvelous view. However, the service is really not up to the task – unfortunately. And the dishes are also not top-notch. Well, still, I’ll get back – and even if it is only to enjoy the atmosphere with a glass of wine.
