25. August 2015: Restaurant Mellow
I must be entirely honest, I would not have paid the Restaurant Mellow a visit if it wasn’t for EasyDining.ch. The restaurant is unfortunately located a bit outside of the city centre so you would not go there just like that. However, if you decide to go, you will be pleasantly surprised. We went for a menu and first a nice salad was served including two crostini.
The main course was “beef fillet medaillon with vegetables, risotto and porcini sauce” (CHF 29.50). While it was optically not that appealing, the meat was good and so was the sauce. Only the vegetables lacked a bit in creativity of taste.
The extra risotto which was served really generously so you would definitely not go home hungry was very creamy and tasty.
Last but not least, the host was so kind to offer us a dessert on the house. And while it started to be a bit too much for my personal gusto, I must admit it was tasty.
Overall, the dishes at the Restaurant Mellow are fine and the service tries very hard to please you. And I must say they do succeed but somehow it is almost a bit too much. They seem to be there all the time which is getting a bit annoying after some time. Additionally, the whole menu was served within 40 minutes time. Which is definitely too quick for me. I mean, basically the moment you were done with your dish, someone took off the used plates (like!) and immediately replaced them with the next course (dislike!).
To sum it up, the Restaurant Mellow is worth a visit, especially with the EasyDining.ch offer, but make clear to the hosts that you are interested in dining slowly and don’t wanna suck it down in no time.
