28. August 2015: Restaurant Spoon

| November 16, 2015 | 0 Comments

The “homemade tagliolini with asparagus, fish eggs and Grana Padano Cheese sauce” (EUR 16.00) was quite fine. The tagliolini were al dente as they had to be and the dish was rich in flavour. To be fair though, one had to wait quite a bit until the dish was brought to the table.

The main course, the “calamari brittle with battered vegetables and exotic fruit” (EUR 18.00) were a bit of a disappointment. One could say it is my own fault for taking seafood in a city which has no sea access but still, I was not entirely happy. The batter was fine but the seafood somehow tasted dull and the exotic fruit, while a very interesting idea, were just somehow a “side dish” instead of being a dominanting part of the dish.

The atmosphere in the garden of the restaurant is very nice but it is way too dark out there so you can barely see each other. Although that depends – from time to time, the light went on, and then off again, and then on again, and then off again, and then on again … and so on. Which was super annoying! However, the service is friendly but lacks a bit in attention – and when I wanted to order a bottle of wine, they obviously did not have it and had to basically offer me another one, so I went for the “Ripasso DV” (EUR 26.00) and a bottle of water (EUR 4.00).

Overall, if you come to the Restaurant Spoon in the early evening when it is still bright and you sit in the garden, you will definitely enjoy. If you go after 10pm it becomes a bit annoying.
