18. September 2015: Restaurant Ariston

| December 11, 2015 | 0 Comments

The Greek restaurant Ariston was recommended to me by a friend but it is also one of the best restaurants in Frankfurt according to TripAdvisor. So I decided to give it a try. Basically immediately after you’re seated you are served some pickled stuff, olives, and aioli. Definitely lovely to not get annoyed while waiting.

Given we were a small group having dinner, we went for a selection of different starters like “tsatsiki (yoghurt cucumber garlic dip)” (EUR 5.00), “Melitzanosaláta (eggplant paste with walnuts garlic and goat cheese)” (EUR 5.00), “chtipití (spicy feta cheese cream with basil, peppers and olive oil)” (EUR 5.00), and “fáva (yellow lentil paste with caramelized onions and almond)” (EUR 5.00) served with home-made bread. And I must say that all the starters were very tasty. Especially the fáva.

But also the “dolmadakia (stuffed wine leaves with rice)” (EUR 5.00) were absolutely tasty. The only problem was that it was a bit too much so you were almost stuffed after having had the starters.

That day they had a specialty on the menu I could not resist – a “T-Bone with cep mushrooms” (EUR 29.00) and while the cep mushrooms were nothing special really, the T-Bone steak was quite good.

Frankly, the side dishes which were served with the T-Bone were kind of a joke. While the potato chips were actually quite tasty , the vegetables were really very average.

The waiters were friendly and quite jovial but in a pleasant way. Overall, they did a good job so you would feel comfortable and would gladly return again. The prices are absolutely fair which is also true for the beverages (i.e. Selters Culinaria, 0,75L, EUR 5.90). Overall, I can recommend the restaurant Ariston and its Greek cuisine.
