23. January 2016: Cecconi’s Mayfair
I figured that over the last years, I have been trying a lot of different “mules” – this afternoon it was time for a “Soho Mule (House Tonic Cocktail; Finlandia, house ginger syrup, fresh lime juice, Soda water)” (GBP 10.00) and the soho mule was actually lovely. Definitely a drink you can enjoy and one you can order a second drink.
In order to not starve after a long day of traveling, the “calamari fritti with lemon aioli” (GBP 15.00) definitely do the trick but frankly speaking, the calamari are a bit chewy. However, I guess when you are at an Italian place in London, seafood is – admittedly – maybe not the smartest choice.
However, the “selection of bread” which was served was quite nice and the olive oil was very yummy providing you with enough to kill your immediate moment of starvation. Cecconi’s is a lovely place, vivid, full even at 2pm so you have to queue to get a spot at the bar or even a table.
The bartender is friendly, swift, and attentive – while being rather jovial and trying to upsell in a smart and non-intrusive way. Overall, Cecconi’s is a lovely place. Maybe not the top place for seafood but perfect to enjoy a couple of drinks at the bar.
