Have you ever tried Biribiri or Jenipapo?: Sorveteria da Ribeira (1. February 2016)
When you do the bus tour of Salvador, one stop includes the port of Ribeira, or more precisely, actually the “Sorveteria da Ribeira” and while the place isn’t too appealing, the selection of different ice cream flavours is outstanding. Among the regular ones like vanilla, you can also find quite exotic flavours. I went for “Biribiri” and “Jenipapo” (2 scoops, 13.00 BRL).
Apparently, Jenipapo is so strange that the waitress who served me first got a spoon to let me try. And while it was nothing extraordinary I said yes – to the surprise of the waitress. However, you must get used to the taste of both ice cream sorts if you didn’t grow up with these fruits. If you are into trying new things, the Sorveteria da Ribeira is a good place to do so – ice cream-wise! :)
One remark though with the rather exhaustive selection of flavours – half of them were out, which is also why I ended up choosing Jenipapo.
